Practical placement in Kolkata, India

Annual general meeting

Q&A session during the general meeting

“So, you’re telling me that an auto-flushing toilet would improve the company’s overall efficiency?”

It was my third week at APT and I had already participated in a general meeting.

In the meeting we got an overview of what companies our company worked with in 2011 and 2012. Afterwards, there was a discussion about company’s etiquette, goals and a Q&A session. Then we had a reward ceremony and employees, who had recently made significant contributions or have worked for the company for several years, got gifts and bonuses. As for the new employees and interns – we had to introduce ourselves and we each got a company t-shirt and a book of an Indian author.

Very professional

This is my kind of company

The reward ceremony was followed by a traditional Indian song performed by one of the employees.

"Let me sing you the song of my people."

“Let me sing you the song of my people.”

When the meeting was over, everyone went for lunch which was made and served by professional cooks. The food was very tasty, but a bit too spicy for me. I don’t think I would have had the courage to try all the different meals if not for the ice-cream served for desert.

"Give me some of this, and that, and some ice cream, please."

“Give me some of this, and that, and some ice cream, please.”

All in all, I’m liking this company more and more, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me in Adept Software Avenues.
